Range Rules

 
 

Our goal at NORTH COUNTY SHOOTING CENTER is to provide the safest possible environment. By following these simple yet specific responsibilities, you help ensure that safe environment.

• Shooters must complete & sign both the waiver & the experience questionnaire before shooting.

• Always treat all firearms as if they are loaded.

• Loaded Firearms are NOT permitted anywhere in the building except on the firing line.

• All firearms must be securely cased until within the shooting booth.

• If you have more than one firearm, only use one at a time.

• Rental firearms must remain in basket unloaded, with the action open, until in the shooting booth.

• Rental guns must ONLY use ammunition purchased at the range.
(We Have Handguns, Shotguns And Rifles To Rent At The Range. In Order To Rent A Firearm, You Are Required To Have A Party Of Two Or More Shooters. No Rentals To Individuals, Unless You Are Taking A Lesson With One Of Our Instructors.)

• Eye & Ear protection must be worn at all times, by all persons, when entering the range.

• NO handling of ANY firearm is permitted behind the safety line.

• The firing line is forward of the safety line & within the booth.

• No going forward of the bench or red line unless supervised by a Range Safety Officer.

• Range Safety Officers reserve the right to inspect firearms & ammo at any time.

• Safety instructions issued by the Range Safety Officers must be obeyed immediately.

• Keep the muzzle of the firearm pointed down range at all times.

• Keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot.

• ALL MINORS MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT.

• Minimum age allowed on the range is 12 years old.

• Each minor must be supervised by a parent or guardian.

• All targets must be set a minimum of 5 yards down range (1st line)

• A malfunctioning firearm must be placed on the bench, pointed down range, and immediately brought to the Range Safety Officer’s attention.

• Rapid fire and double tap are prohibited on the range.

• Holster-drawing must be approved by the Range Safety Officer.

• Uncased rifles must be pointed down range at all times.

• You MAY collect your own brass that lands in your immediate area only. You may not cross the red line to retrieve any brass. All other brass will swept into the bay.

• Possession of Tracer, incendiary, or flammable ammunition is a FELONY in California and is not allowed in the building at any time, for any reason.

• No magnetic, steel, bi-metal, aluminum cased, or penetrator ammunition may be used on this range at any time.

• You are financially responsible for any damage you may cause to the range.

• No alcohol or drugs allowed before or during shooting.

• No food, drink, gum, or tobacco is permitted inside the range for any reason at any time.

• If you observe any unsafe condition or practice, report it to the Range Safety Officer immediately.

• Be sure all firearms are safe to operate.

• Use only the correct and safe ammunition for your firearms.

• Know and understand the operation mechanism and safety feature of the firearms you intend to use.

• Firing is allowed from within the booth only.

• Only one person + instructor may be in the booth while firing.

• All persons not firing must be behind the firing line line to maintain a safe shooting environment

• Upon the command CEASE FIRE all shooting must stop IMMEDIATELY, and await commands from the Range Safety Officer.

• RANGE AMMUNITION NOTICE AND ACKNOWLEDGMENT: Under California law, ammunition sales shall be conducted through a licensed ammunition vendor. We are a licensed ammunition vendor and a shooting range. Ammunition purchased or received at this facility, that was not processed by or through us must, at all times, be kept within the facility’s premises. The removal of Range Ammunition is strictly prohibited. PC30312(C)(9) & PC30352(e)(3) Any removal of such ammunition from the facilities is strictly prohibited.

Failure to abide by any or all of these rules with on the range may result in you and/or your party being dismissed from the range, cancellation of membership, and/or exclusion from North County Shooting Center.
